Vivienne
My obsession with drawing circles behind people continues! Just a girl, sketched at A5 size using brown and red prismacolour pencils. Parchment-y texture added in photoshop, I found it using google so am not sure who to credit the texture to, sorry!x

Dorian Gray and The Leviathan

The madness continues! I'm attempting to post most of my old(ish) artwork here so that I can get going making some new art to post. Here are a couple of illustrations. The first is an illustrations of the first passage from 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' by Oscar Wilde (which can be found here). It is done in a style influenced by the wonderful Aubrey Beardsley. I thought it'd be appropriate, as Beardsley illustrated Salome, another Wilde work. Made using fineliner and sharpie marker. There is a companion piece to this, illustrating the end of the book, but it is currently languishing in my portfolio, at college. I love the slighty ridiculous laburnam tree.
The second illustration is yet another final piece from a college project. (fun fact: I just recently completed my college course, and should be starting a diploma in foundation art&design come september). We had to illustrate a passage of text (you can see it up the sides, if you can read the text)with emphasis on how scary and looming the train is, and how young, innocent and frightened the boys are. This was made using watercolour and ink for the train, watercolours that were then re-coloured on photoshop for the boy, and ink scratched onto paper using the end of a paintbrush. Photoshop was then used for assembling and general tomfoolery. If I were to do this again I'd probably change quite a bit, but for now I am happy with it.

Some Traditional Work

I am going posting crazy tonight! Here are a few rather old pieces. The top image is a study of an old man, with the emphasis on the texture of his face. It was made using oil pastel on black card. The second image was based on an image I found on google images, unfortunately I've no idea who the original artist was so I cant credit them. If you are the original artist and happen to stumble upon this, please give me an email if you want me to take this down. Anyway, it was made using acrylic paint. The third image is another study of the old man, this time made using modroc to create a bumpy texture, then acrylic paint over the top. Its nice and 3D in person.

Psyche and Eros

Here are another couple of pieces from a college project. This time I was illustrating a couple of scenes from the Greco-Roman myth of Cupid/Eros and Psyche (you can read it here at wikipedia). The first image illustrates the scene in which Psyche creeps into her husbands Eros' room, intending to kill him, as she believes she is married to a hideous monster and discovers her husband is in fact Eros, god of lust/ love. This piece was influenced a tad by the work of Frank Miller, and was made using sharpie, liquid ink and a paintbrush.
The second image depicts Psyche opening a box of makeup and being 'overcome by an infernal sleep', and was made using watercolour, acrylic, biro pen and grey marker.

Website Designs

Reposting these both together. Here are a couple of pieces from a college project. We had to design a website for our course. I gave mine a more illustrationy-bent and hand made the images and created a collage for the background. Made using ink, acrylic paint, pencil, collage and photoshop. Up top is the homepage, and on the bottom is the second page, the one that opens when you click on the 'Photos' icon on the homepage. Or at least, it would, if the website actually worked.
